Middle school teacher intoxicated in classroom.
June 5, 2008 - Janice Dodson, 59, a teacher at J.O. Kelly Middle School, was arrested for public intoxication after other teachers complained of smelling alcohol on her breath.
Dodson reportedly had been in her classroom with students present. She was visibly upset, according to the police report, while telling her students about a pending surgery.She is the second teacher to be arrested last month inside a Springdale school. Patricia Miller was arrested for driving under the influence at Young Elementary School in early May after failing two field sobriety tests in her classroom. The charge stemmed from driving herself to the school.
She later told police she had been drinking wine since the previous evening, and continued drinking wine until 5 a.m., according to the report. She registered a .192 on a field breath test, the report states. The legal limit in Arkansas is .08.She also told police she was taking prescription drugs, according to the report.
