CASE DISMISSED

Story dated August 4, 2007 - Keith R. Lehocky, 42, a fourth-grade teacher at North Judson-San Pierre Liberty Elementary School teacher, was been charged with child molestation stemming from a party in February. Lehocky was arrested July 11.

From the Noblesville Times: (Dated Jul 12) -

A court document states the girl pretended to be asleep so Lehocky would leave her alone. As she pretended to sleep, she said he pulled down the spaghetti strap to her top, exposing her breast.

During an interview March 5 at Chaucie’s Place child advocacy center, the girl said Lehocky laid down on the bed and began rubbing her chest and the front of her body.

The affidavit states the girl said Lehocky’s daughter, who was also in the room, told her father to get off of the girl.

The girl's mother took her daughter to a local fire station Feb. 25 for help and was placed in contact with police.

CASE DISMISSED August 3, 2008 - With a trial date in the case looming this month, Hamilton County prosecutors came to Circuit Judge Judith Proffitt with a request for a continuance on July 17. Lehocky's attorney Steven Holt objected to the motion - an argument supported by Proffitt, who dismissed the case.

Despite Proffitt's dismissal, state attorneys maintain the right to refile charges against Lehocky - a move that could not be confirmed or denied this week by representatives in the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office.

ARRESTED August 31, 2007 - Michael P. Widger, 36, a teacher at Grandview Elementary School, was arrested and charged with child pornography possession for 55 images on his school computer.

FIRED Widger had been fired by the school district for violating the school's computer use policy. He plans to file a grievance challenge his firing.

INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE Oct 7 - Days after a district judge ruled there wasn't enough evidence to try a former teacher on child porn charges, prosecutors refiled the charges and asked for a new district judge to hear the case.

In refiling the charges, prosecutors asked Erie County President Judge Elizabeth Kelly to assign the case to another district judge.

"We mean no disrespect to District Judge Manzi," District Attorney Brad Foulk said. "But we feel we presented sufficient evidence and continue to have sufficient evidence to move the case to trial."

CHARGES REFILED Oct 12 - Prosecutors will refile child pornography charges.

Erie County Judge Shad Connelly on Thursday granted the prosecution's request to refile charges against Michael P. Widger after Millcreek Township District Judge Paul Manzi dismissed the same charges after a preliminary hearing on Sept. 25 because of a lack of evidence.

Connelly's ruling also granted the prosecution's request that a different district judge preside over the new preliminary hearing.

TRIAL ORDERED Jan 11, 2008 - After a day-long preliminary hearing, North East District Judge Gerard Alonge ordered Widger to stand trial on charges he accessed child pornography on a school computer. Widger faces eight counts of possessing child pornography and one count of possessing an instrument of crime — the computer.

Jan 12 - In a Erie Times-News article on the trial that has been ordered, they said that the prosecution presented testimony at the first preliminary that the FBI had investigated Widger for possession of child pornography seven years before.

CASE DISMISSED (Again) June 19 - A second judge has ruled that there is insufficient evidence to proceed. Judge Michael E. Dunlavey dismissed the case.

Feb 21, 2008 - Colleen Solberg, 38, a special education "associate" at Iowa City West High School, was arrested, charged early this morning with lascivious acts with a 17-year old male.

Police said Solberg, who is no longer with the district, passed notes and poems to the student and later bought him a cell phone to use. Police were alerted by the victim's family in November.

Solberg worked at West since 2002 but also had short stints at City High and Horn and Longfellow elementary schools

NOT GUILTY PLEA April 26 - Solberg pleaded not guilty in a written arraignment Thursday to lascivious conduct with a minor. Solberg's pretrial conference is set for June 4 and her trial is scheduled to begin June 16.

CASE DISMISSED June 19 - The case was dismissed because the prosecution was unable to get the alleged victim to testify, according to court records. (Source: Press-Citizen)
