Dec 5, 2007 - In New Zealand, teachers will now have to prove they are of good character and fit to teach. This, after a "string of cases involving teachers forming sexual relationships with pupils, abusing children in their care, being caught with pornographic images on computers or sending sexy text messages to children."

The new policy would affect teachers applying for registration, renewing their three-year practising certificates, or those needing a limited authority to teach.
