July 3 - Singh's next court date is July 9 in Kings Country Criminal Court.
Her lawyer, Kumar Paturi, claims Singh, who entered a not-guilty plea during her arraignment on May 29 and was released after posting $7,500 bail, is the victim in this case.TT - Found in the same news story as Scott Antwork's arrest. The newspaper named the 12-year-old special education student in that case. Both stories depended heavily upon the lawyer's presentation of the facts.
“My client was the victim of three sexual predators who took advantage of a 22-year-old young teacher’s mental condition when they knew she was suffering from mental illnesses,” Paturi said.
The three teens, two of whom were 18 and one of whom was 15 at the time of the incident, knew Singh was depressed and taking medication, and that she had been hospitalized after a nervous breakdown several months earlier, Paturi said. While Paturi maintains Singh’s innocence, he is considering making or accepting a plea deal.
