Odd that they would recommend firing before a criminal investigation was complete.

March 25, 2008 - Vian School Superintendent Lawrence Barnes recommended on March 10 that two Vian High School teachers, be dismissed as teachers. Both teacher remain suspended with pay and benefits. Both teachers are female and are under criminal investigation for alleged inappropriate behavior with male students. The investigation is not complete.

A pre-termination hearing for one is scheduled for April 14. A pre-termination hearing for another teacher is scheduled for April 22.

Purpose

Most teachers are professionals who cherish their vocation and their students. They serve tirelessly to promote learning because they are professionals. They do not abuse the trust of parents, or students, or society.

The purpose of this site is to gather news stories about teachers, educational reform and education issues. There are a distressing number of problems in our education system in every state.
