Commack, NEW YORK

Feb 19, 2008 - Michael Gallagher, 32, an English teacher at Commack High School, was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of Possession of Sexual Performance by a Child. The child pornography was found on his home computer.

Det. Sgt. John Cowie of the Computer Crimes Unit said authorities were alerted in February by AOL that Gallagher had sent child pornography over the Internet. They obtained a search warrant for his computer on March 3. A forensic analysis found the pictures they suspected were there."It's child pornography." Cowie said. "It's nasty stuff."

Gallagher resigned after the investigation began. He was arraigned on Tuesday.
