Now we know what happened to Ms. Grantham.

Feb 7, 2008 - Stephanie Grantham, 36, a Porterville teacher, was charged with one count of felony workers' compensation fraud and sentenced to 90 days in jail for falsifying medical disabilityslips in order to receive temporary disability benefits.

Grantham appeared in court on January 28, 2008 along with her attorney, and agreed to reimburse the District for the period of temporary disability received in question. In dispute remains the issue of reimbursement to the District for other expenses.

Feb 11 - From the Visalia Times, a newspaper that did their homework: A spokesman for Kennan and Associates, the insurance company that insures the Porterville School District, said Grantham reportedly received $7,557.20 in worker's compensation benefits and could ultimately be responsible for about $15,000 in restitution. Another $8,000 in costs incurred by the district is in dispute, the spokesman said. Those costs include pay for a substitute teacher.
