Feb 7, 2008 - Anthony W. Yurchak, 22, a physical education teacher at Mary J. Donohoe Grammar School, was suspended after his arrest on various narcotics and prescription theft charges. He is charged with the illegal sale of prescription drugs.

When Yurchak was arrested, police said they found more than 200 stolen OxyContin pills on him. Police said they found more than 300 pills, mostly OxyContin, and more than 100 empty pill bottles, in his home. Three other people arrested along with Yurchak were accused of stealing the drugs from a pharmacy where they worked.

Yurchak, a non-tenured teacher who was hired in September, will continue to receive his salary until he is indicted, according to state law. His salary is $45,650 a year.

March 5 - Yurchak's twin brother, Timothy, was arrested on similar charges. Timothy Yurchak was a floating teacher in the Bayonne school district. Like his brother, he was a gym teacher. TT entry for Timothy Yurchak.
