Dec 11, 2007 - Vard Lunnen, 53, a second and third grade at Mountain Vista Elementary School , was arrested last week on suspicion of lewd acts with a minor that reportedly occurred more than 13 years ago. He is is charged with three felony counts of lewd acts with a child under the age of 14 with force.

He is on paid administrative leave. Lunnen previously taught at Sea View Elementary in Salton City and Mecca Elementary in Mecca, as well as Cesar Chavez Elementary and Valley View Elementary, both in Coachella.

NOT GUILTY PLEA Jan 25 - Lunnen pleaded not guilty. He is charged with three counts of committing a lewd act on a child under 14 stemming from three separate incidents involving a boy during summer school in 1994. fA elony settlement conference is scheduled for Feb 21.
