INDICTED

ARRESTED Feb 14, 2007 -
Ronald James, 56, a literature teacher at the Walton County Alternative School, was arrested on a charge of sexual exploitation of children.

Authorities say a tip to the National Center on Missing and Exploited Children was forwarded to the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Agents searched James' home and found images of child pornography. They seized three computers, several hard drives and computer disks.

A grand jury charged James with more than two dozen counts of child exploitation, and prosecutors plan to ask for charges against a local former journalist.. James was indicted on 26 counts of exploiting children after a Georgia Bureau of Investigation probe last year revealed the former Walton County teacher's computer held thousands of video and still images of children.

From the Athens Banner (April 5) - Also arrested the same day in 2007 was Elton Felix Manzione, 62, (left) a former journalist who also allegedly had child porn in his computer. (Including pictures of an infant who was assaulted, according to a 2007 arrest story in the Savannah Morning News.) Manzione wrote for The Observer, a defunct Athens weekly newspaper, and once worked as a part-time English instructor at the University of Georgia.

Prosecutors expect to present his case to the grand jury soon.

MANZIONE INDICTED May 23 - The Clarke County grand jury this week indicted Elton Manzione (shown left) on 20 counts of sexual exploitation.
