ARRAIGNED October 7, 2008 - Tina Kafka, 58, a teacher at Explorer Elementary Charter School, was arraigned in Federal court on Tuesday.
She was arrested October 3 on a bench warrant issued in connection with a one-count indictment charging her with intentionally causing damage to a protected computer.
The indictment alleges that beginning in December 2006 and continuing through November 2007, Kafka, a teacher at Explorer Elementary Charter School, gained unauthorized access to the employees' e-mail accounts and read their e-mail messages.
The defendant also tried to forward one of the e-mails to a local newspaper, according to the indictment.

- Kafka was indicted by a federal grand jury sitting in San Diego on October 2, 2008. She was arrested by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on October 3, 2008 pursuant to a bench warrant issued in connection with the indictment. Her next court appearance is November 10, 2008.
