September 3, 2008 - Theresa Duarte, 44, an English teacher at Thomas S. Wooten High School, was arrested Aug. 25 and charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and two counts of contributing to conditions of a child.

Duarte resigned in mid-June. The investigation did not begin until after her resignation, police said. The investigation began on Aug. 19, after county Child Protective Services officials said they had received information that Duarte was providing illegal drugs to Wootton students

Police are continuing to investigate the accusations, and believe more students may have been involved.
