September 25, 2008 - Alyson Perry-Jarvis, 36, a third-grade teacher at Southern Oaks Elementary School, was arrested Wednesday, accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenager. Their sexual relationship spanned July 2006 to August 2008, starting when the boy was 16.

Charged with one count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, she is being held in Pinellas County Jail on $50,000 bond. The victim was not a student, but a neighbor of Perri-Jarvis.

The young man, now 18, reported Perry-Jarvis to the Sheriff's Office on Sept. 19.

"He realized what she was doing was wrong," sheriff's spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda said.

Perry-Jarvis is a graduate of Baptist-affiliated Samford University in Alabama. She and her husband have a son.
