Teacher's communications with student investigated.

July 25, 2008 - An unnamed female teacher at Enterprise High School is being investigated for inappropriate correspondence with a 17-year-old male student. The case has been sent to the Shasta County district attorney for possible prosecution.

The teacher was placed on administrative leave in late May after schooll officials learned that the teacher may have been e-mailing notes and sending photos of herself to a student. Her contract with the district was not renewed The student’s mother told police that the boy allegedly had received text messages from the teacher with details of her divorce and her kissing abilities.

He also allegedly received photos of the teacher in her underwear and one in which she was “crawling across a bed,” the search warrant stated. The student had deleted the texts and photos from his phone before he talked to investigators, according to the warrant.

TT - Yet another example of why all schools should have policies prohibiting private communications between a teacher and a student whether it is text messaging or on social networking sites. Two districts in Mississippi did just that this week. Entry

If the teacher finds it a necessity to communicate with a student, it should be through school computers where the contacts can be monitored.
