July 22, 2008 - Eduardo Serrano, 56, a fifth-grade teacher at Valle Lindo Elementary School, was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of molesting a 6-year-old girl who is a family member. He is charged with once count of child molestation and one count of lewd conduct with a child. He pleaded not guilty.
Detectives began investigating this week after the girl, described as a relative, reported the assault to her mother.
Serrano has been with the school district since 2003. He previously taught at John J. Montgomery Elementary School on Fourth Avenue near Montgomery Street. He is on paid administrative leave.
Serrano is scheduled a readiness conference for July 28 and a preliminary hearing for July 31.
