Charlotte, NORTH CAROLINA

Stolen guns and two pounds of marijuana.

July 25, 2008 - Charles Coleman, 23, head basketball coach at Albemarle Road Middle School, was fired after after he was arrested inside a home with stolen guns and two pounds of marijuana.

Coleman was arrested when they raided a house where police suspected residents were selling stolen guns. Coleman isn't accused of selling or being involved in the burglary that produced the guns. He's charged with with felony possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and possessing a stolen firearm.

WCNC sources say Coleman was hired because he had a friend in the administration.

Coleman did pass a required Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools background check, but investigators say that's because he lied on his application. Long before his difficulties this week, he settled a minor drug charge late last year. CMS law enforcement says had that blemish surfaced, he would have never been hired. They frankly admit Coleman just by them.
