Vivian, LOUISIANA

May 28, 2008 - Monica Martin, 27, a substitute teacher at North Caddo High School, was arrested for prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a student and for contributing to the deliquency of a minor.

She is accused of having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student she met while working at the school.

LEGAL: A 2007 state law prohibits sexual conduct between an educator and a student between the ages of 17 and 19. FIRST OFFENSE is a a misdemeanor and conviction can mean $1,000 and jail time of up to six months, or a fine of $1,000, or both. A SECOND OFFENSE can mean a minimum sentence of one year in jail, or up to five years, possibly in state prison, and has a fine of up to $5,000. A second offense can be a felony. TT entry
