April 19, 2008 - Michael O'Hania, a teacher at Shelby Junior High School, is accused of sending a pornographic image to a former student. He is charged with distributing obscene material to a youth and using a computer to commit a crime, for sending an image of a nude man to a former student, a 16-year-old girl. He was charged Oct 2005.

He agreed to plead no contest to a charge but in May 2006 withdrew his plea after probation officials recommended he spend nine months in jail and he learned he would have to register as a sex offender for 25 years.

NEW CHARGE A third charge, possession of child pornography, was added in January 2007 after police say they found seven child-porn images on a storage device on O'Hanian's seized computer. The porn possession case is on hold until after the original case goes to trial.

TRIAL DELAYED Trial has been delayed after the Court of Appeals issued a stay so it could consider the prosecution's protest of the judge throwing out one of the defendant's statements to police. Pretrial was set for May 15.
