Geronimo, OKLAHOMA

Sentenced (sorta) to five years in prison, but will only serve 30 days, and those will be on weekends. Go figure.

April 7, 2008 - Regina McKay, 33, a Geronimo High School teacher, pleaded no contest to the second degree rape of a 17-year-old in 2006.

She was accused by one of her students of giving him cigarettes and alcohol to go to her home in Walters and have sex with her. The Cotton County DA says McKay received a sentence of five years in prison, but she will serve only 30 days, and those will be on weekends.

McKay will be on probation for two years and must pay a $1,000 fine in addition to court costs. She will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life**, and will be required to confirm her address every three months. McKay will be permitted to be with children only when there is adult supervision, however she will be allowed to attend her children's school functions.

** registration for life was included in video report at news site.

She will also have to surrender her Oklahoma teacher's license by this Friday. She also must attend professional counseling for the next year.
