NEW CHARGES FOR TEACHER WHO WAS PREVIOUSLY ACQUITTED.

March 4, 2008 - Sebastian Moore, a Russell County Middle School teacher, faces new charges after he allegedly had a conversation about sex with the student last Wednesday. He turned himself at the Russell County Sheriff’s Office

Investigators told News 3 the mother of the alleged victim signed a warrant against Moore after her daughter told school officials about the allegations. The official charge Moore is facing is called contributing to the delinquency of a minor. It is a misdemeanor.

PREVIOUS ACQUITTAL A Russell County judge ruled that the prosecution did not prove its case against Moore on charges that he sexually abused a 17-year-old female special education student at Russell County Middle School in April 2006.

Glenn Beck Fusion article on the case: Three teachers were convicted of failing to report the abuse for which Moore was indicted. The conviction of the teachers and failure to convict the principal caused officials to review the policy.

The judge was Albert L. Johnson (PREVIOUS ELECTED OFFICES: District Judge, 1984-1996, Representative, Alabama Legislature 1982-83. Currently running for Alabama Supreme Court. He reminds voters that "I'm going to remind most of the voters that their granddaddy was a Democrat, and there was nothing wrong with his values," he said.)

It might be irrelevant, but the Alabama legislature is only second to New Jersey for corruption, double dipping and distasteful politics.
