March 26, 2008 - Michael Ingersoll, 29, a social studies teacher at Santa Fe High School, was arrested on charges of sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between an educator and student.
Ingerson was arrested at the high school by Texas Rangers. He remains in jail on $80,000 bond.
“The investigation ... was initiated after the parents of the 16-year-old girl found e-mail communications between their daughter and the accused,” [Galveston County District Attorney Kurt] Sistrunk said. “Further investigation revealed that the child was sexually assaulted by the accused at his home in Santa Fe.”Ingersoll taught at the high school for two years. He was suspended with pay.
