Allie Ellington, 61, a Myers Park High School social studies teacher, was arrested and charged with two counts of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The charge is focused on online activities. [No explanation.] He has been suspended with pay. The school district is investigating.

March 10 - Police received a tip that someone was chatting about having sex with a child. When police executed a search warrant they found a number of files had been deleted that day, but they were able to recover those files and found, among other things, a picture of two nude children and a video of two others in sexual situations.

He's been a teacher with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools since 2000. Prior to that he spent 14 years as mayor of the city of Oxford, N.C., which is north of Raleigh in Granville County.
