They report that teacher Keyser once wrote a character reference letter to a federal judge asking for a lighter sentence for alleged drug ringleader Kent Allen Jones. Jones pleaded guilty in a case where he had been accused of distributing 200,000 pounds of marijuana between 1978 and 1981. He was sentenced to five years' probation, but it didn't deter him.
Prosecutors said Jones met with the Keysers in 1998 or 1999 in Priest River, Idaho, where they resided, to discuss real estate purchases and investments.
