Jan 11, 2008 - Randal Albert Gomas, 45, was arrested after allegedly arranging to meet a 14-year-old girl who had sent pornographic images of herself to him. When the mother found out that her teenage daughter was having online sexual conversations and sending pictures to men, she contacted police. Police arranged the meeting with Gomas where he was arrested.
A police investigation revealed that Gomas was allegedly communicating with the teenager on his home computer and school computer. Police said the girl did not misrepresent her age in her online chats.
Gomas was booked on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, enticement of a child, attempted sexual assault on a child without force and Internet luring. He is the activities director at James Irwin Charter School.
TT - Interesting predicament. She is the one who sent the pornographic images which in itself is a crime, but she is underage and not legally responsible. If she is allowed to get away with it, then pornographers across the globe will find willing 12-year-olds to send pictures in a similar manner that drug runners use underage children, knowing they can't be prosecuted. Still, there's no denying that a grown man should terminate online contact once he knew she was 14. Proving that he knew and when will be the big issue.
