Dec 17, 2007 - Jerry Jones, 51, a Gainesville Elementary School third-grade teacher, has been arrested on charges of molesting four of his students in the classroom.

Jones had worked for the school since August. The incidents under investigation involved inappropriate groping and touching of three 9-year-old girls and an 8-year-old girl. The molestations were alleged to have occurred on Dec. 7 and Dec. 10. A teacher complained, saying Jones seemed to be conducting himself inappropriately with some female students. which led to the principal warning Jones. The next day he didn't show up at school. He submitted his resignation by e-mail.

On Dec. 12, a parent came to the school and told Collins her daughter was touched inappropriately. The principal then notified the school’s police officer and the local Division of Family and Children Services, By Friday, three other victims had been identified.

The Gainesville Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is continuing its investigation into these incidents to determine if there are any other victims. WANTED BY POLICE Feb 15 - Jones is now considered a fugitive. He too his four-year-old step-daughter. He is out on a conditional bond. One condition was that he not be alone with his daughter Madison.

He was last seen driving a 1996 white Ford Taurus, Ga wildlife tag BW6B02.Vehicle has multiple "Pro-life" stickers and a red streak on the passenger rear fender.

CAPTURED Feb 21 - Jones was apprehended after a high speed chase with police officers in Tennessee after a car chase in which he hit a pickup truck in Rutherford County. The chase began after a police officer spotted him attempting to paint his car black at a car wash. Jones took off with the girl in the car. She was slightly injured. See WSMV coverage.

His estranged wife, Madison County High School math teacher Renee Kerr, said she told Jones about the arrest warrant before he fled.

Feb 22 - Sheriff’s reports stated Jones was admitted this morning to Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute in Nashville.
