July 4, 2007 - Maria Williams, 34, Indian Lake Elementary School teacher, arrested for felony possession of Schedule II drugs within 1,000 feet of a school has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of simple possession, casual exchange.
She was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days to be served at 75 percent. The sentence was SUSPENDED. Williams was also ordered to one year of supervised probation as well as to pay court costs. The conditional guilty plea means she will have her record expunged after the probation.
According to court documents, more than 100 grams of cocaine that was packaged for resale was found in a common area of Maria and Ronald Williams's Chesapeake Harbor home on May 24. Officers also found more than $6,000 in cash and three hand guns. The couple's home is near Walton Ferry Elementary School.Her husband was killed in a car accident. She claimed she didn't know he was dealing drugs.
