May 7, 2007 - Julie Culbertson, 38, a health occupation teacher at East Henderson High School, was arrested on Friday charged with a
sex offense involving a female * student.
Police: Culbertson faces a felony count of “sex offense of a student." Henderson resigned on Friday.

May 8 - Deputies say the relationship went on for several weeks. After allegations were made, Culbertson quickly resigned from her job.

SENTENCED September 2, 2008 - Per a plea agreement in July, Culbertson pleaded guilty to the felony charge and spent 30 days in the Henderson County jail. Culbertson was released from jail in August. She was formally sentenced today. The victim was a police officer's daughter.
Resident Superior Court Judge Mark Powell allowed the victim’s father to address the court about the incident.Culbertson is now on three years' probation.
“It’s a shame that in my 24 years in law enforcement I have protected strangers, and I couldn’t even protect my own daughter,” he said while sobbing.
