Apr 18, 2007 -ARRESTED. Melanie McGuigan, 34, an Elysian Fields elementary teacher, was arrested after a traffic stop where methamphetamine was found in the car.
She was a passenger in a car when a narcotics dog alerted on the vehicle. Both McGuigan and the driver were charged with possession of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20-years in prison.
She was released Sunday on a $25,000 bond.
Apr 19 - McGuigan resigned. She submitted her resignation Monday morning.
