Feb 6, 2007 - Tricia Coccomo, 32, a second-grade teacher at International School at Rogers Magnet, is on trial for six counts of second-degree manslaughter for a drunk driving accident that killed three people. Police say her sport utility vehicle crossed over the center line and struck a car head-on.
The driver of the convertible, 72-year-old James Inverno, died instantly. His wife, Barbara, 58, and their back seat passenger, 23-year-old Glenn Shelley, died hours later. Blood tests revealed Coccomo's blood-alcohol level was 0.20, above the legal limit of 0.08.
The jury began deliberations.
Update: Feb 8 - Coccomo was convicted of three counts each of manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and criminal misconduct with a motor vehicle. Sentencing is set for March 30.
Coccomo has three children.
