Jan 23, 2007 - Toledo high school teacher John Mitch Balonek was released from prison after eight months. He had been sentenced to three years for having sex with a female student.
One year ago Sylvania township police caught the married man in a car with the 16 year old girl. Prosecutors say the former Toledo city council candidate admitted to having sex with the girl who was also his student even after Toledo schools gave him a written warning to stop seeing her.Balonek is barred from teaching for life. He'll have to register as a sex offender for ten years.
