GUILTY ON 24 FELONY COUNTS.. 
Jan 5, 2007 - Andre Johnson, 34, a security guard and basketball coach at James Madison School was arrested, accused of sexually abusing a young male student. 
Johnson is suspended with pay from the city school district. Police say the abuse happened from 1999 to 2005. Their investigation continues.
UPDATE Jan 31 - WHAM 13 reports that in 2000, Johnson was arrested for abusing a 12-year-old boy and suspended from his job. A jury found him not guilty and he returned to work.
Johnson is now charged with abusing ten other boys from 1999 to 2006, some of them students at Madison.
Johnson remains suspended from the City School District without pay.Even though Johnson was found not guilty on the 2000 charges, the district did not have to take him back.
In a similar case from that same year, sexual abuse charges against teacher’s aide Byron Lawson were dropped. The district fired Lawson, however, based on the findings of its own investigation.
District officials have been looking into why Johnson was allowed to return to Madison after his acquittal. Earlier this month, district officials told 13WHAM News they could not find a file on his 2000 arrest. Back then, there was a different superintendent and school principal.
GUILTY VERDICT Feb 8, 2008 - A jury found Johnson guilty of 24 felony counts of sodomizing, sexually abusing and endangering the boys, aged 10 to 16, between 2000 and last August. The jury deliberated for two days before reaching a verdict.
Prosecutors say the attacks happened in a school office, at his home and in parking lots, swimming pools and a church where he served as a deacon. He will be sentenced Mar 14.
