July 9, 2007 - The Arkansas Board of Education voted to permanently revoke the teaching license of Craig Edwards, 26. He pleaded guilty in May to sexually assaulting a student. TT - Link to Edwards.

In other business, the board approved requests from Jennifer Wickliffe and Tammara Mitchell for waivers allowing them to teach in Arkansas despite past criminal convictions.
Wickliffe, who is working to obtain a teacher's license, was convicted of felony possession of drug paraphernalia in Faulkner County in July 2003. Mitchell, who teaches English at the Southeast Arkansas Education Service Cooperative in Monticello and is seeking to renew her license, was convicted of forgery and receiving stolen property in Tennessee in February 1989, a background check revealed.
Both women told the board they made mistakes in the past but have changed their lives. The board voted to deny requests from Mark Bernard and Gayle Moreland for waivers allowing them to work as noncertified employees of the Gentry and Rogers school districts, respectively. Bernard was convicted of third-degree assault on a family or household member, a misdemeanor, in August 2000. Moreland was convicted on a felony hot check charge in Sebastian County in December 1984. Neither was present Monday.
