Burbank, WASHINGTON

Mar 23, 2007 - Alfredo Castillo, 80, a teacher's aide at Columbia Middle School, was sentenced to 15-month sentenced for fondling a female student during the 2004-2005 school year. He also will be placed on three to four years of community custody when he's released.

She told officials the abuse occurred frequently enough that she started wearing sweatshirts to make it more difficult for Castillo to touch her.

The mother of the developmentally delayed girl who was 13-years-old at the time, reacted to the sentence. ``I pity him. My daughter isn't the damaged one - he is.''

Paul Pumphrey, 29, a special-education paraprofessional at Marcellus High School, was sentenced to three to 15 years in prison for sexually abusing a special-education student in May 2005. The boy was 15-years-old.

Pumphrey was charged with criminal sexual conduct after he was caught in a bedroom at the boy's house by his mother's boyfriend. Pumphrey had bribed the boy to keep quiet about the incidents.

Pumphrey pleaded no contest Jan 8. He must register as a sex offender.

Thomasville, GEORGIA

Jan 22, 2007 - Chris White, a para-professional at Thomas County Central High School, was arrested and charged him with furnishing inappropriate materials electronically.

Friday morning, a sixteen-year-old student in his class told another teacher that White had text messaged her cell phone and sent a picture of a sexual nature.

He was fired. He remains in the Thomas County jail.
