June 5, 2007 - David Allen Vandyne, a special education teacher at Jane Long Middle School and a Spanish teacher at Brazos Christian, was sentenced to two consecutive life terms.
Vandyne pleaded guilty Monday to one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and no contest to an identical charge. He confessed to police in 2003 that he had molested about 20 boys. As a result of Vandyne’s confession in Bryan, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for a plea agreement regarding four cases out of Junction, where he previously worked as a special education teacher and karate instructor. He has been in prison since then.
The life sentences are for raping a 10-year-old Austin boy after drugging his orange juice.
