Another drug sweep at a school nets -- another teacher.

May 18, 2007 - Ronald Meade, 47, a Central High School teacher, had his pickup truck impounded when three drug-sniffing indicated the presence of drugs. School administrators tracked Meade down but he refused to unlock the vehicle to allow police to search it, Turner said.

Police then impounded the vehicle, obtained a search warrant, and then searched the impounded vehicle. They found a pill bottle containing four over-the-counter painkillers and two prescription pills. They do not know if Meade has prescriptions for the drugs. They are investigating.

Meade was arrested in November 2000 after allegedly leading police on a 10-block chase near the Ball State University campus, striking a street sign and running through traffic lights.A felony charge of resisting law enforcement, however, was dismissed.

In 1998, then-Supt. of Muncie Community Schools Jack Bowman recommended that the school board fire Meade after he was accused of drinking beer and smoking a cigarette in a Village restaurant following a meeting of the school’s Latin club.The board declined to dismiss Meade.

In 2004, Meade was accused of shoving a student during study hall and placed temporarily on paid suspension.
