Tolland, CONNECTICUT

Jan 3, 2007 - Scott Shefelbine, 32, "who has already been arrested four times since October on charges that he sexually assaulted several teenage girls was arrested again Tuesday on similar charges." He was released on $250,000 bond.

"Shefelbine, who has already posted well over $1 million in bonds from his previous arrests, made Tuesday's bond and was escorted out of the courthouse by several marshals." [Emphasis mine.]

Shefelbine was fired in 2004 from the teacher's aide position he held at Ellington High School for two years after an investigation revealed that he had "acted inappropriately" with students, according to documents in his personnel file.

Shefelbine was first arrested by the Vernon Police Department on Oct. 10, on charges that he had sexually assaulted four teenage girls he got to know through an instant messaging service and the Web site MySpace.com, police said.

After reports of the arrest appeared in the news, a West Hartford man recognized Shefelbine as the man who had been dating his teenage daughter, beginning when she was 15, police said. Shefelbine, who police said had told the father that he was 17, was arrested Oct. 18 by West Hartford police on charges that he raped and sexually assaulted the girl, who he met in August 2006.

On Oct. 27, Shefelbine was arrested by state police on charges that he had a sexual encounter with the West Hartford girl at his home in Tolland, police said.
On Nov. 16 he was arrested on charges that he had sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in February 2006 outside Tolland High School. It couldn't be confirmed today if she was involved in any of the previous allegations.
...
Shefelbine has been on electronic monitoring since he posted his first bond. Harleston set strict conditions of release for Shefelbine Tuesday, allowing him to leave his home only for legal, medical, and church activities. He lives at his parents' home, Paun said.
TT- did anyone ever think that denying him bail was a good option?
