Jan 17, 2007 - Matthew Kusza, a fifth-grade teacher at Russell Elementary School, is charged with sexually assaulting a boy younger than 14. He will be formally charged in early February. In the meantime, the school board stands behind him.
He has not been arrested. He is on paid administrative leave. He was formerly chief in the small town.
Update: Feb 6 - Kusza was arraigned on charges of unnatural acts with a child, and statutory rape of a child. He did not enter a plea. He will return to court for a pre-trial hearing in March.
Update: Feb 9 - The Worchester-Telegram reports:
The child was not one of Mr. Kusza’s students or a student in the Littleton district. According to the Littleton Independent newspaper, Mr. Kusza is on paid administrative leave from his job as a teacher at the Russell Street School in Littleton.
According to court documents, Mr. Kusza was arrested after telling police a 3-year-old child told him the two had improper sexual relations on Nov. 10. Mr. Kusza told police he does not recall the incident but had been drinking at the time and may have blacked out.
