June 16, 2008 - Mary M. Racich, 57, an elementary reading teacher in the Utica City School District, will be arraigned June 25 on charges that she fraudulently collected $52,983 in workers' compensation benefits.
She will be arraigned on insurance fraud charges and offering a false instrument for filin. The compensation was paid to Racich after she claimed she was unable to work because of an allergic reaction she suffered in 1997 while employed as a teacher at the Marcy Correctional Facility. It is alleged that she fraudulently collected the money between October 2004 and December 2007.
