You are so mean!

Was it necessary to handcuff her?

Feb 5, 2008 - That's what the Huntsville Times (AL) is asking about the arrest of Rep. Sue Schmitz, D-Toney.

It was outrageous to take the 63-year-old former teacher and three-term legislator away in handcuffs, some people think.
He [completely unbiased] attorney said when he saw his client in the holding cell, Watson said she was "humiliated, with tears running down her cheeks and cut places on her wrists from the handcuffs."

The prosecutor's spokeswoman reminded them that the intent had been to humiliate Schmitz or gain media coverage, they would have alerted the press to the impending arrest.

FINAL ridicious irony: Schmitz was arrested on the same day she planned to go to Montgomery with a group of high school students to participate in the government study program "We the People." After signing her bond, she traveled to Montgomery to join her students. When she got there, Schmitz and the students definitely had something to talk about.

TT - Presumably they talked about the cuts on her wrists from the handcuffs. Or maybe corruption in higher education in the state. link
