Feb 16 - Students learn about Web dangers, then turn in teacher
Newsday reported that students attended a program at the high school Thursday on dangers lurking on the internet, after which they expressed concern about Corvino.

INDICTED August 14 - Corvino was indicted on one count of official misconduct, one count of aggravated criminal sexual contact and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

GOOD FOLLOWUP August 21 - (From Packet.online)

Before being hired as a teacher, Mr. Corvino managed New Jersey-based hip-hop artist Shawn Livernoche, whose 2001 autobiography, “A Brief History of Rhyme and Bass: Growing Up With Hip-Hop,” details the duo’s party lifestyle and sexual encounters with women and underage girls.

A photo of a then-24-year-old Mr. Corvino with his arms around the shoulders of two young women appears in the book on page 135 with a caption reading: “Dan keeping it gangsta with two underage girls-2001.”

Since the alleged misconduct incident came to light, the Robbinsville Board of Education has discussed revisiting its hiring policies. Currently, any candidate for employment in the district must undergo a criminal background check and series of interviews with the superintendent, assistant superintendent and building administrator.

Superintendent John Szabo said at a parent forum that the district is exploring additional methods of reviewing candidates, including Internet search engines. Board member Matthew O’Grady previously said the board also would consider employing an outside group to review its hiring policies and create an anonymous tip line for students and parents.
Other problems:
Mr. Corvino is the third Robbinsville School District teacher who has left the district after being charged with illegal activities in as many years.

In 2005, Scott Copperman, a then 35-year-old Robbinsville High School teacher and coach, pleaded guilty to third-degree endangerment of a child after police determined he had kissed a female student and sent her romantic e-mails.

A year later, Daniel Finn, then 26, resigned after he was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and serving alcoholic beverages to persons under legal age. Mr. Finn, who was at the time teaching history and coaching boys lacrosse, had originally taken over for Mr. Copperman after his termination.
