Nov 15, 2007 - Donald Murphy, a technology teacher at Edison, has been charged with felony grand larceny, charged with stealing the school’s robot, used in competitions.
According to court papers, Murphy was seen on the school’s security camera removing parts from the school one day over the summer.Murphy was replaced as the club's advisor this fall. The robot is worth $5,000.
Murphy’s attorney, Kevin Morabito, says his client “categorically denies” taking the robot. Murphy claims he paid for the parts he took from the school, and he does not know the robot's whereabouts.
Murphy pleaded not guilty.
