Oct 15, 2007 - Now the Beaufort County Board of Education claims they never voted on on a lawsuit settlement between the school district and former principal. The reason: the district's insurance company settled the resulting lawsuit and public money wasn't used, the district didn't require the board's permission.
As for the $4.6 million lawsuit settlement between the district and the victims of former Coosa Elementary School teacher Philip Underwood-Sheppard, the district wants to release the information, but... sheeze, there's a confidentiality agreement.
TT - As for the $4.6 million, there's still the question, "Why was the district liable for that much money and why the insurance carrier refused to pay more than $300,000?"
