June 15, 2007 - Rebecca Withrow, 30, a fifth-grade teacher at Polenta Elementary School (and head of the PTA) pleaded no contest to having sex with an 11-year-old student. "Withrow admitted that s
he had sex with the fifth-grader in her Polenta Elementary School classroom between February and June of 2003. "
Withrow was sentenced to 120 days in jail, which was suspended to the 40 days she already had served. She was placed on supervised probation for five years and was ordered to perform 120 hours of community service and to avoid all contact with the student and his family. NEW: In addition, Withrow must surrender her teaching license and must register as a sex offender.

If she were a man, she wouldn't be allowed to have unsupervised contact, if any contact at all, with her OWN children. I'm sick of double standards.TT - Even when you work for the schools in North Carolina, you can't get administrators or police to act on complaints.
