Teacher Competency Exams II

May 11, 2007 - Continuing their investigation of teacher competency exams, 13 Undercover investigative journalist Wayne Dolcefino, talked to one teacher who has failed the English teaching test exam 14 times. It's her core subject. She teaches English.

ABC 13 has compiled a list of school districts, showing numbers taking tests and percentages of passing scores on competency tests. The records do NOT indicate the number of teachers who are certified. It only reflects the number of tests taken, passed and failed by teachers employed by each school district.

The last column is the %age of those taking the test who passed.

TT - It would be more helpful if they allowed people to download a spreadsheet so they could work with the numbers, but otherwise, it's a great job. Every state should reveal the pass rate for teachers taking competency exams and have online information about teachers who have yet to pass core requirement competency exams.

How do each of these districts rate at Greatschools.com?
I took one school - ACADEMY OF BEAUMONT - 156 tests, 16 passes, 140 failures. Pass rate: 10% Failure rate: 90%
Greatschools.com rates the school 2.

School stats on Academy of Beaumont from Greatschools.com
