May 4, 2007 - Cedric Brooks, a Rickards High School physical-education teacher and coach, was found guilty of lewd and lascivious molestation of a girl at the school.

Brooks was arrested May 4, 2006, after a school employee reviewed a security video for an unrelated matter and saw Brooks going into the boys locker room with the girl on April 23, 2006. Clips from the video were shown to jurors.

He was briefly suspended with pay after the incident. The School Board suspended him without pay on May 9, 2006. He was fired May 30, 2006.

Jurors deliberated about an hour and a half before returning the verdict. No date for sentencing given.
