Glendale Heights, ILLINOIS

Five years in prison and registration as sex offender for life.

May 31, 2007 - Anastasia B. Pappas, 40, a teacher at Black Hawk Middle School, is scheduled to go to trial in June. A judge unsealed the case files. She is charged with criminal sexual assault, accused of having a one-year sexual relationship with the 15-year-old boy while she lived with his family.

Pappas was arrested Feb. 11, 2006. She resigned in August 2006. Her next court date is June 14.

"The allegations have nothing to do with her employment," defense attorney Michelle Moore said. "She was a great teacher and has a lot of great references.
TT - But references for what???

GUILTY PLEA & SENTENCING May 7, 2008 - Pappas pleaded guilty to felony criminal sexual assault and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Pappas was going through financial difficulties and lived with the family. She began the 12 to 15 month sexual relationship the boy when he was 15 or 16. The mother found love letters and contacted police. The boy used to be Pappas' fifth grade student.

No mention of sex offender registration, but criminal sexual assault would qualify her for sex offender registration. We are not certain if it is a sentencing option by the judge or is automatic. (Apparently it is, thank you.)

MORE SENTENCING DETAILS May 7 - From the Daily Herald: Pappas was sentenced to five years in prison and also must register as a sexual offender for life upon her release from prison.

Under the plea, Pappas must serve 85 percent of the prison term before being paroled.
