Feb 23, 2007 - DeAnna Abasolo-Farley, 34, a Wellington High school para-educator, was in court Thursday to update the judge on progress she has made in finding a lawyer.

Abasolo-Farley was arrested Feb 12, on charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and unlawful relations between a teacher and student between the ages of 16 and 17. She made her first court appearance on the charges Feb 15.

She will be back in court Mar 5.

Update Mar 9 - Abasolo-Farley's preliminary hearing has been moved to March 15. The married mother of four resigned her school position in late January. She is currently free on $20,000 bond.

Update May 3 - Abasolo-Farley, "dressed in an orange shirt and jeans," made a court appearance. "Sitting next to her as usual, was her husband Phillip Farley, who has been in tow for every court appearance his wife has made." [No description of what he was wearing.]

Her attorney asked for three weeks continuance time for discovery purposes. According to court clerks, the three weeks of discovery could give the ex para time to work out a plea negotiation.

Update May 25 - "Abasolo-Farley waited outside of the courtroom Thursday with husband, Phillip Farley, while her Wichita defense attorney Phillip White asked the court to set a preliminary hearing for his client.: A preliminary has been scheduled for June 14.

GUILTY PLEA: Sept 21 - Abasolo-Farley changed her plea to guilty. The plea agreement calls for 30 months in jail with 3 years of post-release supervision. She will be required to be on the registered sex offender list for at least 10 years. She will be formally sentenced Oct 4.
