Feb 5, 2007 - John Lee, 39, a teacher at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, pleaded not guilty to 10 charges, including statutory rape of a student beginning when she was 16.

He is also charged with committing a lewd act on a child, oral copulation, digital penetration of a minor and child molestation. The defendant and the alleged victim – who is now in college – met when she was a 15-year-old sophomore. At some point, their relationship – which lasted three years – allegedly became sexual. The defendant was arrested after officials at the school became suspicious and notified police.

Lee, who is on leave from the school, was ordered to return to court March 19 for a readiness conference. A preliminary hearing date is set for April 11..
