Pensacola, FLORIDA

Of all the teacher trash they could focus on, the media chose Tamara Tootle as their example of classroom misdeeds.

Jan 3, 2006 - Tamara B. Tootle, Ernest Ward Middle School physical education teacher who solicited bribes from students, pleaded no contest today to six counts of bribery, a second-degree felony.

Tootle told students between August 2004 and May 2005 that if they paid her $1 a day, they wouldn't have to dress for physical education class, but they would receive a grade of 100 percent.
She was sentenced to three years probation and 300 hours community service.

From an April story: A school district spokesman says investigators learned about Tootle's activities from another teacher at the school who was arrested back in February on bribery charges.
