Updated to include sentencing on second charge.

Jan 17, 2007 - Janet Klatt, 44, a history teacher at Cannon School, pleaded pleaded guilty to indecent liberties with a 16-year-old student. She received a suspended sentence of six to eight months in prison. She also had to pay a $1,000 fine, according to court records.

Klatt entered what is referred to as an Alford plea. (In an Alford plea, a defendant pleads guilty but does not actually admit guilt.) She was fired May 10th.

Jan 17, 2007 - Klatt is still facing a charge in Raleigh which stems from a school sponsored field trip last April.

Update Feb 9 - Klatt entered an Alford to two counts of having sexual contact with a student and was sentenced to 30 months probation.
